FAQ & Troubleshooting

Common questions about PipeIt and fixes for issues you might hit.

General

Is PipeIt available yet?

Not yet — PipeIt is in pre-release. Join the waitlist to get launch access and early builds.

Which Unreal Engine version do I need?

Unreal Engine 5.4 through 5.7.

How much does it cost?

Pricing will be announced at launch.

Can I try it without installing anything?

Yes. The in-browser editor is the real plugin runtime compiled to the web — same graph, snapping, and kits. It’s the fastest way to learn the tool.

Using PipeIt

How do I make a tee or a cross?

Insert a straight section on a run, then promote the node into a tee (one branch) or a cross (two branches). The editor walkthrough shows this step by step.

Will rotating a pipe break my connections?

No. Rotating a junction swings the entire connected chain together, so joints stay intact. You can also move, roll, and flip individual pieces.

How do brackets work?

Drop a bracket on a run and it traces onto nearby walls and surfaces, then clamps the pipe in place. Move the surface and the bracket re-solves.

Can I mix different kits in one scene?

Yes. Each run can use its own kit, and you can drop in pipes of any kit alongside existing networks without reloading.

Troubleshooting

The plugin doesn’t show up after installing

  • Confirm you’re on a supported Unreal Engine version (5.4–5.7).
  • Check Edit → Plugins, search PipeIt, and make sure it’s Enabled, then restart the editor.
  • For a manual install, the folder must be at YourProject/Plugins/PipeIt/. See Installation.

Pieces don’t snap together

Make sure you’re drawing from a selected pipe end (a red end-cap dot). Runs snap to straight, ±45°, and ±90° and to a 10 cm grid — try moving closer to a valid snap angle.

The in-browser editor won’t load on my phone

On touch devices the editor loads behind a Tap to play poster to save data and battery — tap it to start. If it still won’t load, try a recent version of Chrome, Safari, or Edge with WebGL enabled.
